CIR M01/09: The ban on lorries from using federal roads and highways during HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI 2010

Road Transport Ministry announced a ban on heavy vehicles from using federal roads and highways during the festive period of Hari Raya Aidilfitri (8, 9, 18 & 19 September). The objective of the restriction is to reduce accidents which caused by heavy vehicles and keep the traffic flowing.

There are four different categories of restrictions in order to saw a reduction in the number of lorries on the road. The following is the details

Category 1:

(Strictly prohibited on road during this period)

  1. Lorries carried timber or building materials such as cement, steel, sand, iron and stone except permission in Category 3
  2. Lorries carried concrete or heavy-duty machine

Category 2:

(Allowed on road from 6am to 12am)

  1. Container lorries carried electrical and electronic products
  2. Container lorries ply between different area airport and port

Category 3:

(According to various constraints of the road, allowed on road from 6am to 6pm at Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, Georgetown and Ipoh only)

  1. Concrete mixer lorries
  2. Mobile cranes
  3. tipper lorries

Category 4:

(Unrestricted)

  1. Lorries carried medicine and chemical gas
  2. Container lorries ply between international airport
  3. Container lorries ply between same area airport and port
  4. Lorries carried daily necessaries (foodstuff, fruit, vegetable, raw materials, newspaper and poultry)
  5. Lorries carried garbage or sewerage
  6. Small lorries d’controlled (Below BDM 5000kg)
  7. Lorries shuttle among warehouse, industrial area and port
  8. Tanker lorries carried flammable substances (petroleum/diesel , gas dan LPG)
  9. Lorries involved in rescue operation

We strongly urges those affected by the total ban should plan their logistics and supplies in advance to minimize any adverse impact the ban would have on their businesses and operations. We hope this information be able to help members and associates in some way or another.
